map of where to continue the journey

First Post

Today I begin my journey documenting my adventures as I grow as a developer.

Welcome to my blog. I'm very excited to see how this will go as its something I've never done before. I won't go on too long introducting myself as I think I've done that pretty well on my homepage. My hope is that with this blog, not only will it help me understand and go deeper into what I'm learning, but also show others what I'm up to, and maybe even help someone whos working on something similar.

I was inspired to start this blog by an article I read by Sam Jarman. Titled "How to Build an Online Presence as a Junior Developer", one of the main things that stuck out to me was his advice to "document your learnings, not create advice for others based on what you’ve learnt." You can read his post here. At the time of reading his post, I was already in the process of building my personal site that I planned to use for my resume and maybe a few projects. I already knew that having a place for those kinds of things would be important to my growth. A place where I could show off what I'm currently working on as well as past projects that I've done for myself and others would help me understand the work I was doing in greater detail. Adding this blog was something I had never thought of before that article, but it now seems like an essential part of growing as a developer. I think reflecting on both your own and others work can play a positive roll in becoming a better developer.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more to come in the future.
